Post-traumatic growth among exonerees: Exploring transformative experiences after incarceration

Exonerees face numerous barriers to reintegration following their release from wrongful imprisonment. To cope with the challenges they after exoneration, draw support a wide range of external and internal resources, assisting them on path towards self-sufficiency resilience. In study about life exoneration through in-depth interviews 26 exonerees, we explored reentry for exonerees as well strategies success. Although none in our reported finding closure (and most felt it was not attainable), some experienced what has been described academic literature post-traumatic growth, indicating that although damage wrought by injustice conviction incarceration cannot be fully healed, individuals have transformed experiences into positive personal accomplishments. this paper, highlight transformative re-established lives post-release consider how systems can provide resources necessary growth.
